About BLKXCNCT

Connecting Black creativity across borders through music, education, and cultural exchange.

Why BLKXCNCT Exists

BLKXCNCT (pronounced “Black Connect”) was born from a simple truth: the music and cultures of the Black diaspora have shaped the world, yet their impact is too often disconnected from their roots.

We’re building bridges—through music education, professional development, and cultural exchange—so creativity, equity, and opportunity can move freely between us.

Our Mission

BLKXCNCT connects Black artists, cultural workers, and communities through music education, professional development, and cross-cultural exchange—building equity, access, and opportunity in the global music industry.

Our Focus

  • Centering Black music, stories, and creative leadership across the diaspora.
  • Expanding practical music-business knowledge and professional pathways.
  • Creating spaces for cultural exchange, collaboration, and mutual learning.

What We Do

Music Business Education

Workshops, trainings, and resources that demystify the music industry and equip Black creatives with real-world knowledge, tools, and language.

Professional Development

Support for emerging and established artists, managers, and cultural workers through mentorship, skill-building, and strategic guidance.

Cultural Exchange

Programs that connect artists across the diaspora—sharing traditions, influences, and new ideas through collaboration and storytelling.

Guiding Principles

  • Rooted in Black culture: We honor the depth, history, and innovation of Black music worldwide.
  • Access & equity: We work to remove barriers—financial, geographic, and gatekeeping.
  • Community over extraction: We prioritize relationships, reciprocity, and long-term impact.
  • Global, not generic: We challenge the flattening of Black music into trends or categories and hold space for nuance.

Founder’s Note

BLKXCNCT grew out of watching Black American music and African music fuel global culture while rarely being recognized—or compensated—for their full impact. At the same time, many Black artists in the U.S. haven’t had meaningful, grounded opportunities to connect with peers across the diaspora, learn the deeper histories behind the sounds, or see themselves as part of a global creative lineage.

This work is about more than gigs or industry buzz. It’s about building connections across genres, borders, islands, and continents—honoring the traditions and musicality that already live in us, and making sure they are sustained, understood, and owned by us. When we connect our stories and resources, everyone wins: locally and globally.
