BLKXCNCT is in a build-out phase. Our programs are in development and will roll out in phases as we
secure partners, funding, and the right collaborators. This page outlines the kinds of work we’re
designing so artists, allies, and organizations can understand where we’re headed—and how to plug in.
Program Areas in Development
Music Business Education
Workshops and learning experiences that demystify the music industry for Black artists and
cultural workers. We’re focusing on practical, plain-language education around rights, revenue,
contracts, and the realities of building a sustainable creative life.
Status: Concept and pilot design in progress.
Professional Development
Support for emerging and established creatives—artists, managers, producers, and cultural
workers—through mentorship, strategy sessions, and skill-building opportunities rooted in
lived experience and cultural context.
Status: Partner identification and curriculum planning.
Cultural Exchange
Programs that connect Black creatives across borders: U.S., Caribbean, Africa, Latin America,
Europe and beyond. This includes residencies, exchanges, and collaborative projects that center
the deep musical lineages we share instead of flattening them into trends or genres.
Status: Early-stage concept development and relationship-building.
Flagship Initiative: The Black Church Soundscape Project
One of BLKXCNCT’s first major initiatives in development is the Black Church Soundscape Project,
focused on preserving and honoring the musical, cultural, and spiritual legacy of Black church
traditions and their influence on global music.
The project is envisioned as a blend of archival work, storytelling, artist collaborations, and
community-centered events that trace how sacred sound, praise, and improvisation have shaped
everything from gospel and soul to jazz, hip-hop, house, and beyond.
Status: Conceptual development and exploratory partnership conversations.
Even before our full program slate launches, there are a few ways to connect with BLKXCNCT:
-
Artists & cultural workers: Reach out if you’d like to be considered for future
workshops, residencies, or exchanges.
-
Organizations & venues: If you’re interested in co-hosting a program or
supporting a pilot, we’d love to talk.
-
Funders & partners: We are actively exploring values-aligned partnerships that
allow us to build sustainable, community-rooted programming.
